HCC is getting ready to open. No place has been checked yet, and no seal has been issued. These pages describe how HCC's checks will work.

The Register

Every place HCC checks: what was checked, when, and what the check does not cover. Search by record number, name or city.

The Register lists places by name. It never ranks them by level or by what a business pays.

0 places

No places are on the Register yet.

How to read a record

  • HCC Verified, at a level, means HCC checked this location at that depth, on the date shown, within the scope written on the record. It holds until the Good through date.
  • Not currently verified means a status ended, with the date and one neutral reason. The record stays here for 12 months.
  • Affiliated with HCC. Not eligible for an HCC seal. This marks a business connected to HCC through its owners or leaders. It never carries an HCC seal.
  • HCC does not rule on religion and does not check food safety. Each record says what the check covers and what it does not.

If you cannot find a business

Use the record number on the seal if you have it, or search by name and city. If you see an HCC seal at a place that is not here, or a seal that does not match its record, please tell us. Report a concern

For the community

Where to find Halal Community Council member businesses

Where to look when you want to support places with the seal.

This page is your starting point when you want to see where the seal shows up. No place carries it yet: the first records appear here after the first checks. We grow region by region, on purpose. As new areas join, this is where you will be able to find them.

The absence of a seal does not automatically mean a business is unsafe or careless. It may simply mean we have not reached them yet. The seal is meant to highlight a small circle of businesses that have invited outside expectations and passed a check, not to label everyone else as untrustworthy.

What this page is for

One more helpful signal, in four steps

A quick way to see where the seal is active and how to use that information in your everyday choices: online, in person, at home, or while traveling.

  1. Check where we are active

See where HCC will check first, and search the Register above for your city.

  2. Narrow your options

Use the Register, its filters and the seal itself to narrow your options.

  3. Verify and report

Verify any seal you are unsure about, and report possible misuse.

  4. Suggest what comes next

Suggest businesses or regions you would like us to focus on next.

Best for converts, students, travelers, and families who want one more helpful signal without turning every decision into a full research project.

Where HCC checks

Where the seal will be active first

HCC starts small on purpose. We would rather be deeply present in a few places than spread too thin everywhere. This section will grow over time as new regions join the network.

  • Pilot region

Horry and Georgetown counties, South Carolina

The Grand Strand and Myrtle Beach: our first focus area. Places that pass here appear on the Register, and on any directory that licenses HCC's status, and receive HCC's seal kit for use online and in person: a live seal for their website, window decals, a counter card and menu stickers.

If you live in or visit this region, you will see the seal most frequently here as membership grows.

  • Opening for applications

    Every state HCC has opened

The Standard is written for the whole United States. A food business in any state HCC has opened will be able to apply once applications open, and its record appears on the Register the day it is published. New York and New Jersey are not open yet. Canada and Mexico follow later, one at a time.

  • Future regions

    Listening for what comes next

We pay close attention to where the community is already active, where Muslims are asking for more clarity, and which businesses are showing consistent respect for halal conscious guests.

Your suggestions help us decide where to focus. New places appear on the Register as they pass, and new regions will show up here as they come online.

Online, on the map, and in local guides

Where you will see the seal as membership grows

As membership grows, you will see the seal appear through a few simple, repeatable patterns. Even if we start with only one or two regions, the structure will stay the same as others join.

Lists

The Register and regional directories

Each active region will have a simple list or directory of member businesses. The Register is that list: search it by city or state and you see every verified place there, in name order. Local Muslim directories will be able to show HCC status under HCC's status feed license, on the same published terms for every directory, once that license is published.

Wherever you see our seal beside a name, the expectations behind it are the same, even if the website design looks different. A directory shows the status exactly as HCC publishes it, links to the record, and may not push a place up its list because of its level.

Maps

Simple interactive maps

Where possible, we will support maps that show pins for member businesses in a region. This is especially helpful when you are already out and want to see what is nearby. The Register has no map yet: a map joins it only when it can run on HCC's own server, so no outside map service sees what you look up.

Map coverage will grow slowly. Lack of a pin does not mean a region has no trustworthy places. It only means our member list there is still small or not yet active.

Guides

Curated guides and collections

From time to time, we may publish simple guides: weekend routes, neighborhood spotlights, or focused lists of members that serve a specific need.

These guides are not paid placements. A list like this is drawn from the Register by plain facts, such as every verified place in one neighborhood or every place whose record shows hand slaughter. It includes every place that fits, in name order, and never ranks one place above another or says "who we recommend". Places appear where they fit the facts of the list, not just because they exist.

On the sidewalk

How to spot the seal when you are out

Online tools are helpful, but many choices still happen on the sidewalk. When you are already standing in front of a place, it helps to know where to look for the seal.

  • At the entrance. The window decal goes on the entrance window or door, at about eye level, and many places keep a counter card near the host stand or the counter where guests first walk in and order.
  • On menus or printed materials. You may see a small seal on table tents, menus, flyers, or display cards. On a menu, the seal sits beside the items or the section the record covers.
  • On their website. Some businesses will show the seal on their homepage, contact page, or footer. On a website it is a live seal: it changes within minutes of a status change.
  • On social media. Over time, you may notice the seal appearing in posts, story highlights, or profile images.

Every decal, counter card and menu sticker carries a QR code that opens the live record. If you see something that looks like our seal but you are not sure it is real or current, you can always use our verification page to confirm, or report possible misuse.

How to use the seal if you are...

The same seal, used a little differently by each of us

Different people come to this page with different levels of knowledge and energy. The seal is meant to help you in slightly different ways depending on your situation.

  • Convert or newly practicing

"I'm still learning where to go."

Treat places with the seal as early anchors. Start there while you are building your own understanding and local relationships. Ask questions freely: businesses with the seal have agreed to that.

  • Traveler or student

"I'm only here for a short time."

Use the Register and member lists to choose one or two places that feel trustworthy without having to audit the entire city. Combine that with local recommendations if you can.

  • Parent or caregiver

"I don't have energy for constant research."

Once you find a place with the seal that feels good for your family, you can treat it as a "default" spot unless something clearly changes or concerns arise. Its record tells you when it was last checked and when the check runs out.

  • Community organizer

"I help others decide where to go."

Use the seal as one of your reference points when recommending places, while still honoring different fiqh opinions and personal standards in your community.

Traveling or new to an area

New city, new restaurants, very little time

Converts, students, families, and travelers often share the same problem: new city, new restaurants, and very little time or energy to sort through everything from scratch. The seal is meant to lower that pressure a little, even when the member list is still small.

  1. Look it up first

Start by searching the Register for the city you are visiting, or checking a directory there that shows HCC status.

  2. Start with early anchors

If there are a few places with the seal, treat them as early anchors while you learn the rest of the local landscape.

  3. No seal nearby yet

If there are no members yet, still look for clear halal communication, honest answers, and staff who do not get defensive when you ask questions. The guides list five questions to ask at the counter.

  4. Ask the people who live there

Ask locals or community leaders which places they trust most. Our network is meant to sit beside these personal recommendations, not replace them.

If you discover a place that seems like a strong fit for membership, you can suggest it to us. That is one way the network grows in a grounded, community-driven way.

Suggest a business or region for future focus

Point us toward places where community energy already exists

HCC is not driven only from the top down. We want to hear which businesses and regions matter most to the people who actually live and spend there. Your suggestions help us see what you already see.

  • Share the name and location of a business that you believe would be a good candidate for membership.
  • Mention what you appreciate about them and how they treat halal conscious customers.
  • If you like, you can also suggest entire cities or regions that feel ready for a more structured approach.

Suggestions are not promises and we may move slowly, but they point us toward places where real community energy already exists.

Stay updated as membership grows

Hear when new regions and new places come online

Membership will grow region by region. On the notify-me form, choose "Any new state or province", and HCC emails you each time it opens checks somewhere new. To hear about one state only, choose that state. The Register on this page shows every place the day its record is published, so new places need no email.

It works like the notify-me list, because it is the notify-me list: nothing is kept until you confirm your address, every email carries a link to stop, and the privacy policy says what it keeps and for how long. We are not interested in spam or constant announcements.

Use the seal as one helpful signal.

The seal is not meant to replace your own judgment, your teachers, or your personal research. It is one small sign that a business has invited expectations, passed a check, and accepted accountability. Use it to narrow choices, never to silence your conscience.
